About us

Experts in our fields

The Department of Psychology is home to a hub of experts, committed to understanding the challenges of today to improve the futures of individuals and communities.

Our staff are accredited specialists and psychologists at the forefront of current practice both in the UK and internationally, implementing their expertise to inform teaching and research.

The department houses a range of state-of-the-art facilities, including our Neurocognitive Laboratories which feature a brain stimulation lab and virtual reality (VR) equipment.

We are proud of our successful history of working in partnership with students on our courses, preparing them both academically and professionally for their future careers in psychology.

Our research has had a global impact, focusing on areas such as stress, healthy living and ageing populations.

I am proud to be leading a team of vibrant and very ambitious academics who are doing really important work in key psychological areas such as psychology and stress, cognitive ageing and behaviour change for healthy living. All of these are very relevant to today's world.

We support our psychology students to develop their natural curiosity, creating graduates equipped to explore the human experience in an ethical, empathetic and scientific manner.
