East Dunbartonshire Council implements digital system for repairs

East Dunbartonshire Council is rolling out a new digital service to help residents request repairs to their property.

The scheduling system will include a text message service, as well as Dynamic Scheduling software for all property repairs across the council.

Jobs will be issued to repair operatives via an electronic handheld device, meaning they will no longer need to return to the depot or check in to pick up new tasks.

Deputy convenor of policy and resources Councillor Billy Hendry said the scheme would cut costs while giving tenants a better experience.

He said: “Not only will this new service see massive financial savings for the council but it also gives the tenant a much smoother, slicker and quicker service.”

Tenants will be given an appointment slot after telephoning the council’s contact centre or visiting one of its Hubs. This will be confirmed via text, and a further reminder will be sent 24 hours before the appointment.

Hendry added: “The technology will continue to evolve and the feedback we received will be used to improve the overall customer experience for our tenants.”
