The Digital Accessibility Centre (DAC) works with clients to create digital media that is accessible to all members of a population, and meets best practice accessibility standards and legislation
Why work with the Digital Accessibility Centre?
Between the staff at the Digital Accessibility Centre, we have over 30 years’ testing experience, working with clients such as Channel 4 and Nationwide on an on-going basis, and with many local authorities and non-profit organisations. We are a non-profit organisation and a social enterprise, and a living wage employer with a team who are passionate about digital inclusion.
What do we offer?
Working to the most up-to-date standards, such as the AA level of the W3C Web content accessibility guidelines (WCAG) version 2.1, much of our work is customised to your requirements. We offer a personalised and flexible service, including design consultancy with imagery/wireframe review, template testing/review, audit and accreditation, consultancy/surgeries, user testing, training/workshops and policy creation/review.
Why you can trust us
All of our user testing team have a disability and know first-hand whether something is accessible to them or not. So whether we are looking at your website, intranet, internal application, mobile app, electronic TV programme guide or even a remote control, this robust testing allows us to be confident in our test results and reporting, and gives you peace of mind that you are accessible to all your customers.
How we support you
Reports and feedback you get from us give practical advice and support to solve any accessibility issues we uncover. Screen shots show exactly where the problems lie, and our user testers and technical auditors add their comments and suggestions for solutions. We then work with you to help make the required changes, or to find suitable alternatives.
No single accessibility project is the same.
We work closely with you to understand your requirements and propose the best route forward for you.
You may be at the end of your project and need testing and accreditation, or you may be looking at how to incorporate accessibility right at the scoping stage. Whatever your requirement we will work with you to ensure your digital media are accessible.
Our areas of expertise:
Our expert knowledge of accessible mobile technology allows us to offer you the best advice on mobile platforms, technologies and website development.
The DAC user testing team test in line with Web Content Accessibility Guidelines v2.0, and 2.1 to ensure maximum ease of use for people with visual impairments, dyslexia, mobility impairments and learning disabilities.
Training and consultancy
We offer bespoke training in accessibility best practice and techniques for your employees. This training can be held at your offices, or in Neath. Our consultancy services are built around your requirements. We can offer full consultancy from start to finish on a project, or provide help at the stage you need it.
We can also carry out ‘accessibility surgeries’ on a regular basis at your office – a very cost effective method of engaging employees with the accessibility agenda. Developers are able to book time with a consultant and have their build reviewed at regular intervals, ensuring accessibility is considered at all stages of development, and little or no time wasted retro-fitting.
