    Gun-Sik Park received Ph.D. degree in physics from the University of Maryland, College Park, MD, USA, in 1989

    He has worked at the Naval Research Laboratory, Washington, DC, USA as an on-site contractor from Omega-P Inc. until he moved to Seoul National University of Korea in 1995 where he has been a Professor. Until he became a Professor Emeritus in the Department of Physics and Astronomy since 2021. He is currently a Director of the Center for THz-Driven Biological Systems, Seoul National University since 2016.

    He has been a Technical Committee Member of the IEEE Electron Devices Society in Vacuum Electronics more than 20 years. He served as a founding chair for the International THz-Bio Workshop during 2010 -2016. He served as a Chair for the International Society of Infrared, Millimeter, and Terahertz Waves during 2015-2018. He served as conference chair for International conference on Infrared, Millimeter, and Terahertz Waves, 2016, International Vacuum Electronics Conference, 2003 and 2019, and International Vacuum Electron Sources Conference, 2017.

    Also he served as editorial members in many domestic and international journals. He has published more than 150 refereed journal publications in the field of vacuum electron devices and terahertz researches. He was selected as 2021 recipient of John R. Pierce Award for excellence in vacuum electronics awarded by IEEE Electron Device Society(vacuum electronics).
