Dr Daniel Rees is Director of the All-Wales Intensive Learning Academy for Innovation in Health and Social Care (Innovation ILA) and Agor Innovation, based in the School of Management and the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences (FHSS) at Swansea University. He also serves as REF Impact Case Study Lead for the School of Management and was recently appointed Associate Editor for Communications of the Association for Information Systems (CAIS), serving on the editorial team for the IS for Practice department.

Dr Rees’s research lies at the intersection of innovation management, eHealth, and information systems. He focuses on the design and implementation of digitally enabled, value-based models of healthcare and public service delivery, and the integration of practitioner-driven research into policy and system transformation. He has been Principal Investigator, Co-Principial investigator on over £6 million in funded projects and programmes, supported by UKRI, Innovate UK, Welsh Government, NHS Wales, and Pfizer, among others.

As an academic leader, he directs a portfolio of specialist postgraduate programmes within the MSc Advanced Management suite, which integrates real-world innovation challenges with applied learning. These programmes, all professionally accredited (FMLM, CPD Standards, CMI), have upskilled hundreds of professionals across health, social care, government and industry.

Dr Rees has been invited Track Chair for multiple international conferences, including ICTO, ECIE and ARTIIS. He leads cross-sector engagement initiatives, including the Innovation Intensive Learning Weeks and Senior Leadership Development Programmes for NHS Wales.
