About & Expertise

I am a Professor of Tropical Medicine and Infectious Diseases at the University of Kinshasa in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, with over 15 years of experience in the design, implementation, analysis, and dissemination of research. My work focuses on infectious disease surveillance, clinical trials, and One Health genomic epidemiology. I lead multidisciplinary projects funded by EDCTP, WHO, and the Wellcome Trust, including the ODIN and ODIN-Mpox initiatives, which implement wastewater-based and genomic surveillance for emerging pathogens and antimicrobial resistance across Africa.

Career Summary

I have authored more than 20 peer-reviewed publications and have extensive experience coordinating multi-country studies on malaria, Mpox, Ebola, and vaccine-preventable diseases. I serve as Principal Investigator and coordinator for several international consortia and actively mentor young scientists through the BEBUC Excellence Scholarship Program. My work bridges research and policy by integrating community engagement, ethics, and capacity building to strengthen public health systems in resource-limited settings.
