Dr. Marilyn F. Lightstone

Dr. Lightstone is a distinguished and influential Canadian mechanical engineer, educator, researcher, and academic administrator.  In 2013 she became the first woman Department Chair in the history of the Faculty of Engineering at McMaster University, with reappointment for a second five-year term in 2018.  As Chair, she championed gender diversity and significantly increased the representation of women in Mechanical Engineering.  Dr. Lightstone is also an award-winning teacher, consistently ranking as one of the top teachers in Mechanical Engineering.  As an authority in computational fluid dynamics, heat transfer, and turbulent flows, Dr. Lightstone led ground-breaking research initiatives, influencing researchers and engineers worldwide.  She is a Fellow of the Canadian Society of Mechanical Engineering and the Canadian Academy of Engineering.
