NorthPointe Energy Ltd

NorthPointe Energy Ltd has been established as a dedicated organisation to advance NorthPoint, an innovative, sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) project designed to convert non-recyclable municipal waste into low-carbon jet fuel

The project, located at the EET Fuels Stanlow Manufacturing Complex in Cheshire, aims to support the decarbonisation of aviation while reducing reliance on fossil-derived fuels. The SAF produced will be fully compatible with existing aircraft and fuel infrastructure, offering an immediate and practical route to lowering aviation emissions.

Net-zero by 2050

The UK has committed to achieving net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050, with aviation representing one of the most challenging sectors to decarbonise. NorthPoint will contribute to national climate goals by reducing lifecycle carbon emissions from existing aircraft, strengthening domestic fuel supply chains, and enhancing energy security. The project also supports improved air quality through the production of low-sulphur, low-particulate fuel.

Even after recycling efforts, the UK generates millions of tonnes of residual waste each year. NorthPoint will divert up to 480,000 tonnes of this material annually, converting it into SAF with the potential for net greenhouse gas reductions of up to 100% compared with conventional jet fuel.

Project development has been supported by the UK Government’s Advanced Fuels Fund, reflecting confidence in NorthPoint’s contribution to the UK SAF mandate, net-zero ambitions, and green job creation.

The technology

NorthPoint will use an advanced, non-HEFA production pathway that combines established technologies, including waste processing, gasification, syngas clean-up, Fischer-Tropsch synthesis, and fuel upgrading. This approach builds on proven commercial-scale experience in the United States and incorporates lessons learned into the project’s front-end engineering and design.

NorthPointe Energy Ltd

NorthPointe Energy Ltd is committed to responsible development, strong stakeholder engagement, and long-term value creation for its partners, communities, and the wider UK energy transition.
