I am currently Managing Director of the Center for Biodiversity and Integrative Taxonomy (KomBioTa) at the University of Hohenheim and the Natural History Museum Stuttgart. With a doctorate in Biological Diversity and Ecology, a diploma in Landscape Ecology, and an MBA in Higher Education and Science Management, my focus is on connecting scientific research with practical application and policy development. My career has included coordinating interdisciplinary research programmes, developing strategies for research data management and open access, and supporting biodiversity data infrastructures through national and international collaborations and EU-funded projects.
A key interest of mine lies in advancing higher education to address emerging challenges in biodiversity by developing nature-based solutions (NBS). Within the eNaBlS project, I am working on innovative educational formats that promote critical thinking, evidence-based learning, and effective knowledge exchange between science, policy, and practice. Through these efforts, I seek to support the next generation of professionals in applying critical collaborative reflection, transdisciplinary knowledge (exchange) and practical skills to conserve biodiversity with NBS.
