Researcher
Universidad de Oviedo

I hold a PhD in Forestry, specialising in Biology, from the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences, where my research focused on Quantitative Genetics and Genomic Prediction of Scots pine. My work combines statistical and genomic approaches to understand complex traits, genotype-by-environment interactions, and the genetic architecture of forest trees. I have published extensively on these topics, including studies on genomic prediction, growth and wood quality traits, and tree survival across multiple environments.

I have experience across research institutions, agriculture seed industry and field-based operational tree breeding programs. At ICIFOR- INIA-CSIC, I contributed to national forest genetic programmes, developing statistical and genomic models for Mediterranean pines. Earlier I worked as a tree breeder in Sweden, where I implemented advanced quantitative genetic models in multi-trait, multi-environment breeding trials.

Currently, I am a Senior Researcher at the University of Oviedo, focusing on forest-based solutions for climate change mitigation. My research integrates carbon sequestration, biodiversity enhancement, and post-mining landscape restoration. I enjoy translating complex data into actionable insights and communicating findings to both scientific and technical audiences.
