Associate Professor at the University of Oviedo, accredited as Full Professor, and currently serves as Vice-President of the Spanish Society of Forest Sciences (SECF). She also coordinates the national forestry platform “Juntos por los Bosques” and is a member of the Forestry Council of the Principality of Asturias. At the University of Oviedo, she leads the SMartForest research group.
Her scientific and applied research focuses on Forest Engineering, particularly in Silviculture, Afforestation, and Forest Production. She coordinates the European LIFE Carbon2Mine Project (2022–2028) and has participated in over 33 competitive research projects and industry contracts, acting as principal investigator in 21 of them. Dr Cámara is co-author of more than 40 scientific papers, six books, and 32 national and international conference contributions. She serves as a member of both the CLIMAS Climate Change Expert Panel of Asturias and the Scientific Committee of the National Parks Agency(Ministry for the Ecological Transition and Demographic Challenge).
Her international research experience includes stays at the Instituto Superior de Agronomía (Lisbon, Portugal), North Carolina State University (USA), and Leibniz University (Hannover, Germany).
Among her distinctions are the Talgo Award for Excellence of Women in Engineering (2021) and several honorary recognitions from professional engineering associations and local institutions for her contributions to forestry and engineering education. She previously served as Director of the Polytechnic School of Mieres (2012–2022) and chaired national conferences of engineering school directors in Spain.
