Alberto Corigliano is full professor of Solids and Structural Mechanics with the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering of Politecnico di Milano, Home – DICA – Polimi, where he coordinates the Mechanics of Materials and Structures research Section.
Is member of the technical committee of Eurosime, Associate Editor of Advanced Modelling and Simulation in Engineering Sciences and of Frontiers in Materials – Mechanics of materials. He has been associate Editor of the European J. of Mechanics A/Solids from 2006 to 2025. He was president of the 25° International Congress of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics (ICTAM2020+1-Virtual, 22-27 August 2021) and member of the Executive Committee of the Congress Committee of IUTAM (2016-2024).
In 2006 A. Corigliano won the Bruno Finzi prize for Rational Mechanics of the “Istituto Lombardo Accademia di Scienze e Lettere”, in July 2015 was appointed Euromech Fellow by the European Mechanics Society, in July 2018 was elected member of the “Istituto Lombardo Accademia di Scienze e Lettere”. In 2024 A. Corigliano received an ERC-advanced Grant for the project IMMENSE ERC – Immense.
Is (co) author of more than 370 scientific publications, 13 patents, 2 books (1 book “Mechanics of Microsystems” edited by Wiley in 2018); (h-index 41, 6341 citations, Scopus, October 3rd, 2025). A. Corigliano covered a wide range of subjects in the fields of structural and materials mechanics, among them: damage phenomena in composite materials and interface models; brittle and quasi-brittle fracture; parameter identification of constitutive models; reliability, design and multi-physics problems for MEMS; metamaterials; deep and reinforced learning applied to SHM.
