Claire Checkland

Claire Checkland has been working with national, not-for-profit health organizations for approximately 25 years. She began her career as an advocate and policy analyst in the HIV/AIDS field in the 1990s and has since done similar work at the Canadian Cancer Society and the Mental Health Commission of Canada. She took on the role of Executive Director of the CCSMH in 2017 where she has established organizational sustainability and significant growth. Claire is adept at stakeholder relations and at leveraging the voices of healthcare champions toward system change. She has a passion for capacity building, community mobilization and research literacy. She is committed to social justice, health equity and the meaningful engagement of individuals and communities directly affected by policies and programs.
