    Dr. Michelle Pantoya received her PhD from the University of California, Davis in 1999 and joined the faculty in the Mechanical Engineering Department at Texas Tech University in 2000. She holds the J.W. Wright Regents Endowed Chair Professorship and is a Distinguished Horn Professor, as well as the Director of the Combustion Lab. Dr. Pantoya and her students study solid fuel combustion in ways that will provide new energy sources and transform future power generation technologies. Her work has been published in more than 200 journal articles, patents, and book chapters. Her contributions to science and engineering have been recognized with many prestigious awards including the US Presidential Early Career Award (PECASE) and the DoD Young Investigator Award.  With a strong passion for engineering education, Dr. Pantoya is also the co-author of several children’s books introducing engineering to young kids including Engineering Elephants & Designing Dandelions.
