Dr Shewly Choudhury leads Cancer Research UK’s strategic work to support and develop cancer research careers, talent and research culture portfolio – all key enablers of world-class research across discovery, translational and clinical domains. Shewly also leads on CRUK’s EDI in Research Strategic Approach.
With a background in biomedical science and extensive experience in research funding, strategy, and policy, Shewly has worked closely with academic institutions, funders, practitioners, and policymakers to foster inclusive, supportive, and healthy environments for researchers that embed positive practices, fostering collaboration and career sustainability. She has held senior roles at the Wellcome Trust, the Royal Society, and the Natural Environment Research Council (UKRI).
Shewly is both passionate and committed to working with others to drive systemic change in research culture, where researchers and innovation can flourish, and more people can benefit from the progress in research. She regularly contributes to national conversations on improving the research environment.
