Gualbert Oude Essink, PhD, is a senior hydrogeologist at Deltares and associate professor at Utrecht University. He works on coastal groundwaters under paleo-, human-, climate- and storm-driven conditions with a focus on sustainable freshwater solutions. He participates in national and international projects on salinisation, subsidence and Managed Aquifer Recharge in countries like The Netherlands, Vietnam, Egypt and Bangladesh. He also teaches international courses, publishes widely, convenes conference sessions, and supervises 7 PhD students and 2 Postdocs (November 2025).
