Hegoi Manzano is the coordinator of the CONTRABASS MSCA-DN. He holds a Doctor of Philosophy in Physical Chemistry from the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU), obtained in 2010 after completing an industrial Ph.D. at TECNALIA, a research and development company. His doctoral thesis was focused on atomistic modeling of cement-related materials. Subsequently, he joined MIT as a postdoctoral researcher for two years, where he worked on reactive force field development and its application to cementitious materials. In 2012, Manzano returned to Spain and held several postdoctoral research positions until 2015. He subsequently secured a position as Assistant Professor in the Physics Department of the UPV/EHU, where he currently holds the rank of Permanent Professor.

At the UPV/EHU, Hegoi Manzano leads a team dedicated to atomic and mesoscale modeling of cement-related materials. He has published over 100 papers in internationally recognized journals, with an h-index of 36 and an i10-index of 67.
