    Dr. Koichi Watashi is a Senior Researcher in National Institute of Infectious Diseases and a Visiting Professor in Tokyo University of Science Graduate School of Science and Technology

    He mainly studies about the molecular biology and dynamics during hepatitis virus proliferation process as well as the development of new anti-hepatitis virus agents. He produced over 110 papers in international academic journals.

    He was awarded by many academic societies and organizations including The Incentive Award of The Japanese Cancer Association (JCA), Sugiura Memorial Incentive Award of The Japanese Society for Virology (JSV), Taisho-Toyama Award (Liver Forum), and MSD Award of The Japanese Society of Hepatology (JSH).

    He is also a board member of International Coalition to Eliminate HBV (ICE-HBV) and a local organizing committee board of 26th International Symposium on Hepatitis C Virus and Related Viruses in 2019.
