A reconstructive plastic surgeon in the NHS until 2018, Hamish was Executive Medical Director and Chief Information Officer of an integrated Health Board in NHS Wales. He was awarded Senior Founding Fellowship of the Faculty of Medical Leadership and Management in recognition of his contribution to the UK NHS and Fellowship of BCS, the Chartered Institute for IT for his leadership in Digital Healthcare,
Appointed to a personal chair in the School of Management in 2018, and a certified Management and Business Educator (CMBE), Hamish is Professor of Enhanced innovation, Engagement an Outcomes and Director of the Value-Based Health and Care (VBHC) Academy, part of the Welsh Government Intensive Learning Academy Programme. Hamish represents Wales at the EFPIA Value-Based Healthcare think-tank in Brussels, is an expert Affiliate of the EU Alliance for Value in Health and through the Academy provides consultancy on VBHC implementation to health systems and the life science industry globally.
Hamish has been a non-Executive Director and SIRO of Life Science Hub Wales Ltd. Since 2021.
