Dr. Sotiris Makris is a Mechanical Engineer with a PhD in modern Manufacturing systems and production networks
His main research interests lie in the field of Robots, Automation and Virtual reality in Manufacturing.
He has been involved in numerous Industry driven research and innovation projects acting as Leading senior researcher. He has been leading research in manufacturing mainly by advancing technology in the fields of Virtual Commissioning of assembly systems, Industrial applications with cooperating robots for flexible assembly, Artificial intelligence for flexible manufacturing. In his role he works with manufacturing industry to facilitate technology uptake by industrial companies in order to enhance their flexibility capacity and energy neutrality.
