The Department of Pediatrics at the University of Illinois, Chicago is working on redefining child health for the 21st Century
Their key mission is to ensure children and families have access to healing, service and innovation, as well as ensuring training, education and opportunities are available for the next generation of paediatric healthcare leaders. The key foundation of the Pediatrics Program is to go above and beyond for children and families to help them achieve their full potential.
The Pediatrics Program at the University has worked to stay at the forefront of the ever-changing practice and study of child health since its inception more than 100 years ago. UIC Pediatrics is dedicated to creating an integrated, multi-hospital system that builds upon the current assets offered by the Program and the children’s hospital, as well as implementing a new model of care for delivery. Following a strategic review, the Pediatrics Program has developed a five-year strategic plan, which is designed to create partnership and guide the Program into the next decade.
Inspiring the development of the strategic plan were five core values, relevant to the needs of the community: Authenticity, collaboration, diversity, innovation, and quality. It is designed to improve and refine internal clinical operations, business practices, educational opportunities and research portfolio, as well as challenging the global common practice in paediatric medicine.
In this ebook, the Department of Pediatrics at UIC outlines the key aspects of the strategic plan and the seven strategic design teams, which will analyse the current state of child health in the US. Through the strict implementation of their strategic plan, the Department believes it has the potential to positively impact paediatric healthcare citywide and beyond.
