Our mission is to demonstrate that we can actually invent technologies that tip the balance of CO2 mitigation from risk and liability to opportunity and profitability
Our vision is guided by questions whose answers address pressing challenges of our century.
- Can we achieve carbon-free electricity? Can we do this at scale such that future energy demands are met?
- Can we turn CO2 into a valuable asset and push the boundary of what’s perceived as a liability into a favorable alternative?
A successful future transition cannot be based on financial burdens but rather on opportunities for innovation resulting in sound and sustainable business models.
Agora electrochemical technologies
Agora is an engineering company that pursues technological advances in a newly carved space where energy generation is tightly linked with CO2 mitigation via carbon capture or utilization.
Our electrochemical technologies use CO2 as a raw material to store and/or generate electricity while also producing commodities in a carbon-negative manner.
This amplified approach aims to provide viable and scalable solutions that enable renewable proliferation, address the challenges of hard-to-abate emitters and meet future energy demands.
Currently, two technologies are under development:
- The CO2 REDOX FLOW BATTERY is a new class of large-scale, low-cost, long-duration storage system. The battery uses CO2 as a raw material to enable energy storage, and as such, it simultaneously links CO2 utilization with clean energy storage and dispatchable electricity.
- The CO2 REDUCTIVE CAPTURE, targets capture, purification and conversion of CO2 via absorption in a non-amine-based media. The overall system leads to electricity generation by combining thermochemical and electrochemical processes.
When combined, the two technologies form a circular sustainable and bankable platform where CO2 becomes an energy vector in a carbon economy – a pathway merging the energy transition with decarbonisation.
