Business value maximisation for IT with MaxVal Consultancy

MaxVal Consultancy helps organisations raise levels of business value, success and return on investment (ROI) arising from organisational IT, digital transformation and related activities like business as usual (BAU) and continuous improvement (CI), to a significant, even dramatic degree.

We apply the fundamental, underlying principles of gaining organisational value from IT defined by our unique Business Value Maximisation Framework (BVMF®) that other methods, practices, approaches and frameworks only cursorily or tangentially cover if at all.

We are one of the first, possibly only, consultancy to focus exclusively on gaining business value

We are one of the first, possibly only, consultancy to focus exclusively on gaining business value, success ad ROI from IT, employing the only known framework of models, principles and techniques devised specifically for this purpose with its heritage reaching back several decades.

When agile, waterfall, wagile, Prince2, Lean, Managing Successful Projects, Management of Value, Business Realisation Management and other such methods, practices, approaches or frameworks, are prefaced, augmented and underpinned with BVMF® they start to produce a different level of result in respect of success, value and ROI.

This is because BVMF® supplies the missing value related jigsaw pieces (value cake ingredients if you like) being truly holistic in respect of its compass of business/management practice, process, people, culture, information usage and IT.

You can read our story and see what others have said about BVMF® here.

One client, a senior consultant Business Analyst we trained and accredited, said

“BVMF® is extreme common sense, I wish I had known about it years ago…”

A 30-year research and development programme turned into high value results

BVMF® arose from a 30-year research and development programme conducted by our CEO and lead Business Value Maximisation Specialist (BVMS) David Jacobs, who first gained high value results for business organisations in the 1980s.

David started to create BVMF® in the early 1990s and has updated and expanded it ever since. It transcends waterfall, agile, wagile/hybrid and other approaches helping organisations to harness the best of other available methods but crucially adding in the specific value related ingredients that have been missing.

The beauty of BVMF® is that it does not replace other methods and practices, it underpins and augments them so they start to focus more on pragmatic production and maximisation of value rather than the value and success being incidental or somewhat ‘hit and miss’, as has been the case for the last few decades. This means that you lose nothing in terms of the practices, skills and resources you apply, they just become far more effective.

We are Founder of Do IT Better Consortium (DIBC)

We at MaxVal are founder of Do IT Better Consortium (DIBC) that leads, coordinates and supports high-quality BVMF® trained consultants and consultancies to combine their resources to help client organisations improve their project success rates and degree of value and ROI being gained.

As such, we are also able to provide more traditional role support and resources such as business analysis, project and programme management and architectural design, although these services always have a wrapper of added value around them as we don’t ever favour IT for IT’s sake. DIBC’s website is here.

Accrediting Business Value Maximisation Specialists (BVMSs)

At MaxVal Consultancy we have been training and accrediting Business Value Maximisation Specialists for some time now with BVMF® related licensing and consultancy progressing clients’ commercial wellbeing alongside.

We tailor every assignment to the client’s needs. We either train in-house business IT professionals in BVMF® or apply it on our client’s behalf working closely with in-house resources, whatever is most appropriate and effective. Often a combination approach works best.

We include in our professional services portfolio project rescue/turnaround assessment and redress in case clients have any projects or activities that are disappointing expectations. We help to align expectations by matching realities to action which clients invariably find is a great starting point to moving to a better world of IT business value.

Please feel free to contact us any time for a no obligation discussion of your needs and interests. If you visited us at GovNet’s recent Digital Government conference in May 2023 you will know we also offer some nice logo’d chocolates! Not a crucial element maybe but we do like our clients to enjoy themselves.

We will measure your required levels of Information Systems Business Value (ISBV)TM

Once we are talking, we can offer you a free presentation on BVMF® and an associated free ten-point assessment of your IT Business Value CapabilityTM using our unique IT Effectiveness SpectrumTM to measure your current and required levels of Information Systems Business Value (ISBV)TM.

We can work with you at macro level to raise your overall capability to generate business value and ROI from the use of IT, or target specific areas of your operation to strengthen any aspects identified as needing attention.

We do recommend, however, starting your value maximisation journey in a well defined not too wide a business area in order to build up your skills and capabilities in a stable and progressive manner. BVMF® has nearly 100 models when sub-models and variations are included. These models define the problems and challenges at macro level and point towards a micro level set of solutions/redresses.

To accompany the models, BVMF® has several hundred Concepts, Principles, Guidelines and Techniques (GPGTs) which are the elements to consider, focus on and importantly do (act on) to move towards maximum business value. Due to the ever-expanding nature of BVMF®, targeted documentation is provided at an appropriate level and juncture when it will be most effective which is usually during and after training or consultancy.

Predict your own levels of business value more reliably

We train and accredit business IT professionals in BVMF® at Foundation, Intermediate and Advanced levels. To get started you can gain access to some of the central models and techniques via our website where you can also see some editorials, articles and case studies.

You will find that working with us helps you to be able to predict levels of business value more reliably as well as becoming able to produce more of the additional harder to predict elements of value that arise as projects or BAU/continuous improvement activities progress.

So, if you would like to be more confident and consistent in gaining higher than typical levels of success, value and ROI from IT and digital transformation and are challenged by the never-ending complex paradigm you’re faced with on a daily basis that is not very well supported by the available methods and practices, please do call us soon.
