Alex Barekye is currently a Director of Research at Kachwekano Zonal Agricultural Research and Development Institute
This is one of the institutes under National Agricultural Research Organisation (NARO) which has a national mandate for potato research in Uganda. He has a PhD in plant breeding. He has been a Ugandan Principal Investigator for the late blight potato project which NARO conducts in partnership with International Potato Center (CIP). Alex has experience working on bananas, potatoes and sorghum in and has published over 30 papers. He has experience in plant breeding, agronomy and pathology.
