The European Union will host dedicated Info Days for the EU Missions on 20 and 21 January 2026, offering stakeholders a comprehensive overview of the new calls under the Horizon Europe Work Programme (WP) 2026/27
Spread across two days, the event will feature six in-depth information sessions designed to help researchers, innovators, public authorities, businesses, and civil society organisations understand upcoming funding opportunities and how they can contribute to the EU’s long-term policy goals.
The Info Days focus on the next phase of EU Missions, which is a key part of tackling some of Europe’s most pressing challenges in health, climate change, and environmental sustainability.
The new calls combine cross-cutting actions with mission-specific topics, reinforcing collaboration across sectors and regions while supporting concrete, measurable impacts by 2030.
Advancing Europe’s climate resilience and environmental health
A major emphasis of the 2026 calls is strengthening Europe’s resilience to climate and environmental pressures. The Adaptation to Climate Change Mission aims to support at least 150 European regions and communities in becoming climate-resilient by 2030.
The Info Day session will outline new opportunities for projects that improve preparedness, risk management, and adaptation strategies, particularly at the regional and local levels.
Environmental restoration is also a key priority. The Restore our Ocean and Waters by 2030 Mission will present new calls focused on protecting marine and freshwater ecosystems, reducing pollution, and promoting sustainable blue economy solutions.
Complementing this, the A Soil Deal for Europe Mission seeks to establish 100 living labs and lighthouses that demonstrate pathways toward healthy soils, supporting food security, biodiversity, and climate mitigation.
Health and well-being at the core of EU missions
Health remains a cornerstone of the EU Missions framework. The Cancer Mission continues to closely align with Europe’s Beating Cancer Plan, aiming to improve the lives of more than 3 million people by 2030. The Info Day session will provide guidance on new calls addressing cancer prevention, early detection, treatment, and quality of life for patients and survivors, and will encourage multidisciplinary and patient-centred approaches.
By linking research, innovation, and policy implementation, the new calls aim to translate scientific advances into tangible benefits for citizens across Europe.
Driving urban transformation and climate neutrality
Cities play a decisive role in achieving Europe’s climate objectives. The 100 Climate-Neutral and Smart Cities by 2030 Mission will be the focus of a dedicated session on 21 January.
The new calls will support cities in accelerating their transition to climate neutrality through integrated solutions in mobility, energy, digitalisation, and governance. The emphasis is on scalable and replicable approaches that can be adopted by cities across the EU.
Cross-mission collaboration and implementation
In addition to mission-specific sessions, the Info Days will include a focus on cross-mission activities. These calls are designed to strengthen synergies between missions, enhance stakeholder engagement, and support the full implementation of mission objectives in line with each mission’s implementation plan.
Overall, the EU Missions Info Days in January 2026 provide a valuable opportunity for potential applicants to gain early insights into the Horizon Europe WP 2026/27, understand expectations, and prepare competitive proposals. By fostering collaboration and innovation, the new calls aim to bring Europe closer to its ambitious 2030 goals for a healthier, greener, and more resilient future.
