European Commission announces call for tenders for fintech study

A tender worth €350,000 has been opened by the European Commission.

The tender is for a study aimed at helping the commission understand financial technology or ‘fintech’, the challenges, as well as major players in the sector.

The tender will close on 29 September 2016 and asks the winning bidder to describe the key European players in fintech, as well as their position in a global context.

Furthermore, it calls for an understanding of the innovation aspects of the sector, including technology and business models, and how these factors impact current regulation.

The study, which is titled ‘Overview of the fintech sector: challenges for the European players and possible policy measures at EU level’, will examine policy and regulations, how challenges can be overcome by using fintech, and how the sector can develop in the future.
