The European Big Data Value Forum 2025 (EBDVF) is set to take place in Copenhagen, Denmark, from 12 to 14 November

As the main event of the European Big Data Value and Industrial AI Research and Innovation community, the forum brings together experts from across Europe to explore the future of data-driven innovation.

This year’s EBDVF focuses on industrial AI, digital competitiveness, trustworthy AI, and the application of generative AI across various sectors, including manufacturing, agriculture, and energy.

Some of the highlights of this year’s EBDVF are several projects funded under Horizon Europe and managed by the European Health and Digital Executive Agency (HaDEA).

These projects show how Europe is translating research excellence into real-world impact by driving innovation in AI, data spaces, and Industry 5.0 technologies.

AI at the edge

A key session, “AI at the Edge experimentations for the Industry 5.0 transformation of Manufacturing SMEs,” will be led by the AI REDGIO 5.0 project.

As the successor to the H2020 initiative AI-REGIO, this project continues to strengthen collaboration between European regions and Digital Innovation Hubs (DIHs). Its focus is on bringing the power of edge computing and artificial intelligence to small and medium-sized manufacturing enterprises (SMEs).

AI REDGIO 5.0 is developing advanced methods and technologies along the edge-to-cloud continuum, ensuring that innovation supports European values and ethical principles.

By integrating with the EU’s Testing and Experimentation Facilities (TEFs) and Data Spaces deployment programmes, the project contributes to building a common European data space and enhancing digital sovereignty. Through these efforts, AI REDGIO 5.0 supports the transition to Industry 5.0.

Strengthening resilience through manufacturing as a service

Another session, “Implementing Manufacturing as a Service platforms in a supply chain B2B resilient Data Space,” will feature three other HaDEA-managed projects—MAASive, NARRATE, and M4ESTRO.

MAASive focuses on boosting value network resilience by enabling manufacturers to adapt quickly to changes in supply and demand. The project is developing models that simulate value networks, helping companies assess the impact of disruptions and make informed, timely decisions.

By treating manufacturing capabilities as services, MAASive enables organisations to orchestrate and reconfigure resources in response to unforeseen events efficiently.

NARRATE is designing an intelligent tool powered by AI, Digital Twin, and Internet of Things (IoT) technologies. It aims to provide complete visibility and control over supply chains, enabling real-time monitoring and predictive capabilities. Central to this approach is the Intelligent Manufacturing Custodian (IMC), which coordinates data-driven decision-making and facilitates seamless collaboration across supply chain partners. The interaction between IMC and Digital Twin systems enhances energy efficiency, circularity, and sustainability across manufacturing processes.

M4ESTRO complements these efforts by building a Smart and Trusted Network of manufacturing professionals. The project’s Manufacturing-as-a-Service platform supports rapid reconfiguration of value chains during crises, ensuring continuity and preparedness. By fostering trusted collaboration and data sharing, M4ESTRO helps manufacturers remain competitive and adaptable in the face of global challenges.

Europe’s digital and industrial transformation

These HaDEA-managed initiatives showcase how Horizon Europe’s Cluster 4 – Digital programme is advancing Europe’s twin green and digital transitions.

By supporting ethical and human-centred technological development, these projects support the EU’s vision for a competitive, sustainable, and resilient industrial future.

At EBDVF 2025, the collaboration among research, industry, and public actors underscores the significance of data, AI, and innovation in shaping Europe’s next generation of manufacturing and industrial ecosystems.
Through initiatives like AI REDGIO 5.0, MAASive, NARRATE, and M4ESTRO, Europe continues to strengthen its leadership in digital transformation.
