Council to start traffic management scheme

Traffic management scheme to start in Dorset

Work is set to get underway in West Bay, Dorset, to make changes to traffic management in the local area…

Following changes agreed by West Dorset District Council’s Executive Committee in July, work is set to start on 13 April on a new traffic management scheme in the local region. The changes were brought about after local residents and businesses petitioned the council.

The scheme will see the pinch point at Haddon House widened, as well as a clearer pedestrian crossing facility installed at St John’s Church.

Dorset County Council will carry out the works on behalf of the district council. Design work and safety audits have already been completed.

West Dorset District Council’s Head of Planning (Community and Policy Development) Hilary Jordan said: “We are very pleased to be completing this enhancement scheme.

“We would also like to thank the residents and visitors to West Bay for their patience while the works are taking place and hope that these final changes will resolve the concerns raised in the petition.”

The work is expected to take two to three weeks to finish and will see two-way traffic lights in place between 8am to 4pm Monday to Friday and 8am to 1pm Saturdays.
