University of Bath tops annual survey

In an annual survey conducted by the Times Higher Education, the University of Bath is said to offer the best university experience in the country…

The survey, which assessed criteria such as learning and teaching experiences, also included feedback on the facilities available on campus, connections with industry, and cheap amenities.

More than 11,000 undergraduates are taught at the university. In the same survey last year, the University of Bath came in second place.

The survey was conducted with Youth Sight, a specialist youth market research agency.

John Gill, editor of Times Higher Education, said: “One of the aims of the government’s higher education reforms was to increase competition between universities and intensify the focus on the student experience.

“Our survey, which is now in its 10th year, is perfectly placed to track what this has meant in practice, and which universities are performing particularly well in specific areas – whether in teaching and learning, or areas such as the standard of facilities, in which many institutions have been investing heavily.”

Last year’s winner, the University of Sheffield, fell to third place in the survey, while Loughborough University was ranked second, and the Universities of Cambridge and Oxford came in fourth and fifth, respectively.
