The European Health and Digital Executive Agency (HaDEA) has officially launched a series of new open calls for proposals under the 2025 EU4Health Work Programme on behalf of the European Commission

These calls cover nine key public health topics and reflect the European Commission’s policy priorities as outlined by DG SANTE. They are also designed to support improved healthcare outcomes across the EU.

The total indicative budget for these calls amounts to over €56.8 million. Interested parties are encouraged to submit their proposals by January 6, 2026, at 17:00 CET, through the EU Funding and Tenders Portal.

Focusing on cancer screening and prevention

Three of the nine calls focus on the pilot and implementation of cancer screening programmes, targeting gastric, lung, and prostate cancers. These proposals aim to support Member States in expanding early detection programmes through structured and evidence-based approaches.

These new initiatives fall under the plan to improve cancer prevention and early intervention, aligning with the objectives of Europe’s Beating Cancer Plan.

Cardiovascular and NCD initiatives

In response to the growing burden of cardiovascular diseases (CVs) and other non-communicable diseases (NCDs), the 2025 Work Programme includes two significant funding opportunities in this area.

The first supports a European flagship initiative that utilises AI and health data to enhance cardiovascular health. The focus is on risk prediction, prevention, personalised care, treatment and rehabilitation, using the potential of digital technologies and integrating health data systems.

The second call focuses on lifelong prevention strategies for healthy living, with a specific emphasis on cardiovascular health. It aims to reduce the prevalence of modifiable risk factors and promote healthier lifestyles across the EU population.

Supporting health and innovation

Other calls include the development of a medicine pricing, reimbursement, and access tracker, which will be implemented through the existing EURIPID database. This project aims to enhance price transparency and accessibility to medicines across Member States, a crucial aspect of promoting equitable healthcare systems.

There is also a specific focus on medical devices, with one call dedicated to establishing a programme in orphan medicine devices, particularly those intended for paediatric use. This initiative is expected to stimulate innovation in areas often neglected due to limited commercial interest.

To further enhance the digital health agenda, a separate call invites proposals on health data for biotech innovation, in line with the European Health Data Space. The goal is to unlock the potential of anonymised health data to accelerate biomedical research and innovation in biotechnology.

Support for stakeholders’ engagement and knowledge sharing

The final call supports the organisation of health-related conferences, reinforcing collaboration and knowledge exchange among stakeholders, researchers, policymakers, and healthcare professionals. This effort complements the overall objectives of EU4Health by fostering dialogue and strengthening the European health community.

Info session on 9 October

To support applicants in navigating the application process and understanding the specific objectives of each call, HaDEA will hold an online information session on Thursday, 9 October 2025, from 10:00 to 15:30 CET.

Interested parties can register for the session via the EU Health Policy Platform and are encouraged to submit their questions in advance through Slido (code: #EU4H2025).
