    Jeynes was awarded a PhD from Bristol University in 1981 and immediately invited to join the University of Surrey Ion Beam Centre (as it became)

    The following year, he became Liaison Fellow at the same centre, engaging many national and international scientists in multidisciplinary projects using the Surrey ion accelerators.

    He was the first Quality Manager for the Ion Beam Centre (IBC), achieving certification at ISO 9001:2005 in 2013 and ISO 9001:2015 in 2017, also achieving accreditation of the IBC at ISO 17025 (as a Calibration Laboratory) in 2015 (maintained until 2018). 

    He ‘retired’ in 2020. Jeynes was registered as a Chartered Physicist in the 1980s, as a Chartered Engineer in 1998, and as a Chartered Chemist in 2021.

    He met Michael Parker serendipitously in 2016 and Parker & Jeynes have been working together on Parker’s new Thermodynamics ever since.
