    Dr. Kindrachuk is an Associate Professor and Canada Research Chair in emerging and re-emerging viruses in the Departments of Medical Microbiology & Infectious Diseases and Internal Medicine, University of Manitoba

    His research focuses on the circulation, transmission and pathogenesis of emerging zoonotic viruses that pose the greatest threat to global health. These have included ebolaviruses, coronaviruses, orthopoxviruses and influenza viruses. Findings from these investigations will help inform emerging virus therapeutic treatment strategies, outbreak prediction and preparedness efforts.

    He currently leads multiple national and international research investigations including Director of the International Mpox Response Consortium (IMREC), co-lead for Pillar 2 of CoVaRR-Net, and Principal Investigator for ongoing investigations on Ebola virus and monkeypox virus in sub-Saharan Africa. He has also served as a subject matter expert for numerous national and international emerging infectious disease working groups, including with the World Health Organization and the Government of Canada.
