    Dr. Armanfard is the founder and principal investigator of the iSMART Lab

    In addition to her role as a Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at McGill University, she holds affiliations with Mila–Quebec AI Institute, McGill Centre for Intelligent Machines (CIM), McGill Initiative in Computational Medicine (MiCM), and McGill Institute for Aerospace Engineering (MIAE).

    She obtained her Ph.D. and completed her Postdoctoral studies in Artificial Intelligence at McMaster University and the University of Toronto in Ontario, Canada. Prof. Armanfard’s research is centered on pioneering algorithms across diverse domains such as time-series data analysis, computer vision, reinforcement learning, and representation learning. Her work addresses tasks including data clustering, classification, and anomaly detection, with applications extending to Intelligent Healthcare and Industrial Automation.

    Recognized for her contributions to the field, Dr. Armanfard has received numerous awards from prestigious institutions, including the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada, AgeWell, Vanier-Banting, the Fonds de recherche du Québec, McMaster University, McGill University, the University of Toronto, the Canadian Institutes of Health Research, and Scale AI, among others. Her academic achievements are reflected in numerous publications on AI-focused topics across distinguished platforms.
