Rocket Healthcare App: Connecting health professionals with the community whilst aiding a healthier population

Rocket Healthcare, a sub-division of Mobile Rocket, has gone from strength to strength in 2023. Providing digital business solutions for NHS and social care partners like the Rocket Healthcare App whilst assisting digital transformation needs is at the heart of what they do

Our digital ‘Healthcare and communications’ application was designed for parents with young children to provide real time information and promote the self-management of care for 0-19 service users. It has quickly progressed to become the leading interactive digital solution for communication, service delivery and end user engagement between health professionals and the community.

This has been accomplished through working closely with our partners, investing time to really understand both their services and their user requirements in detail, and then addressing these through a continual development strategy with our highly skilled in-house UK based development and project management teams.

The need for organisations to digitize

NHS England Transformation Directorate highlights the need for organisations to digitise, connect and transform. At present, only 20% of NHS organisations are classed as digitally mature; as such, there is a need for the health and social care sector to adopt digital tools urgently and consistently to address long term health improvement goals.

Evidence suggests that digitally mature providers can be up to 20% more efficient than their less digitally mature peers due to improvements in both communication and end-user co-operation.

Our Childrens and Young persons healthcare APP is free for service users to download from the app store and has almost 40,000 daily users, a number which is increasing rapidly month on month.

The app has been significantly enhanced over the last 12 months. It is a system full of up-to-date technologies to improve user experience and outcomes, helping people in the community with their everyday healthcare needs.

It includes features such as an essentials service locator, health activity tracking, healthy and cost-effective recipes, diet and nutrition, emotional health features and push notifications, all boosting user knowledge on health and wellbeing, as well as giving tips on how to lead a healthy life.

Rocket Healthcare App: Proving online help

The Rocket Healthcare app also provides an extremely easy-to-use health chat feature that offers secure and confidential help and advice to users. This allows you to save time and free up phone lines for more urgent calls while getting service users the advice they need quickly.

The app is paired with a beneficial reporting feature which provides timely data on the number of downloads and users, demographic splits, and most used features as examples. Access to real time data allows each service to convert those metrics into valuable insights.

All results are displayed visually and professionally and are a great way to present and report successes to senior leaders and commissioners.

We are delighted to be at an advanced stage in the Rocket Healthcare journey, ensuring that our NHS partners have a first-class digital tool they can have full confidence in. We have worked rigorously to complete the most stringent clinical security accreditations in the industry. We have achieved this through working closely with 8Fold Governance, who adopt the most scrupulous approach to information governance and compliance.

We are proud to share that we have now achieved the following accreditations:

  1. DSPT – Data Security And Protection Tool Kit: This is a self-assessment tool which allows an organisation to measure performance against the National Data Guardian’s ten security standards.
  2. DCB0129 – Clinical Risk Management: This provides evidence of the clinical safety of our Health and communication app.
  3. DPIA – Data Protection Assessment: This assessment is designed to identify risks arising when processing personal data.
  4. D-Tac – Digital Assessment Criteria: This provides confidence that the digital health tools used meet clinical safety, data protection, technical security, interoperability, useability, and accessibility standards.
  5. Cyber Essentials Plus: This is designed to help organisations protect themselves against cyber threats.

Having traditionally had success in building our digital apps for individual trusts and their 0-19 / 0-25 service, we are pleased to now be engaging with mental health teams and podiatry services, furthering our relationship with our NHS partners. It has also been fantastic to see our app supporting numerous Council run family hub services.

Our greatest success is receiving positive feedback from our partners, for example:

“Working with the team at Rocket Healthcare has been such a positive and supportive experience. I am delighted with the training and aftercare we have received. Nothing is too much trouble for the team. Our health visitors and school nurses have been able to embrace the development of the Children’s Health App and described feeling energised and excited about moving the digital social media agenda forward for our children and families. Thank you! ”

So, what is next for Rocket Healthcare? Building upon our success within the NHS, we are excited to be launching fully into the wider health, social and domiciliary care environment in November 2023. If you are an organisation or business within this area, we look forward to engaging with you.
